Go on Beckham...

Last year after Stephen Murray's accident he got a phonecall from David Beckham who had seen the video about Stephen's accident at the X-Games... Here is an extract from The Sun's website, although it fails to mention the "F--k off it isn't David Beckham" that Stephen told Becks on the phone...

SUPERSTAR David Beckham phoned a paralysed BMX rider to wish him well – and was put on hold for 40 minutes.

Becks, 32, was at a BMX competition in Los Angeles when he was touched by a film about badly injured British rider Stephen Murray.

The ex-England skipper got Stephen’s contact details and rang him up in hospital in Baltimore.

Stephen’s pal Chris Mason said: “He was in the middle of rehab and told the staff to ask the caller to ring back because he was busy.

“But they said it was important. So it took 20 minutes to get Stephen in his chair and another 20 to get to the phone and start the Bluetooth so he could speak.

“Beckham waited patiently. Stephen didn’t believe it was David Beckham but then it dawned on him.

“They talked for half an hour. Beckham wished him well and asked to be updated on his progress. The call made his day.”

Dad of two Stephen, who grew up in North Shields, moved to America about ten years ago to train for BMX. He became a star after doing a double back flip in 2001.
