1. What is your very first memory of BMX?
Crashing at my local BMX track in the rollers.
2. How did you feel when you got your first bike – do you have the same feelings now when you set up a new bike?
My first bike was a Schwinn when I was five. The set-up is now a little different.
3. What was your first bike like?
Big and bulky…
4. What is your latest bike like?
Mean and sleek…
5. When & what was the first time you saw a rider do something amazing on a bike?
Back in 91/92 in Yorba Linda. I met Castillo and he was learning supermans I think.
6. When & what was the last time you saw a rider do something amazing on a bike?
I don’t know, I saw the frontflip flair and the triple whip.
7. If you hadn’t discovered BMX, what do you think you’d be doing now?
Probably still working in motorcycle shops or being an off-road fabricator.
8. When it comes to riding, do you go for style or tricks?
It used to be tricks, but now it’s just flow and fun. That’s the point, now.
9. Do you have to work on progression, or does it just come naturally to you?
It all depends. Sometimes I have to work for it and sometimes it just happens.
10. What state of mind enables you to progress your riding?
An open mind.
11. What one rider has influenced you the most?
Stricker.
12. What goes down if you have a bad day?
Nothing.
13. When was the first time you tried something big/burly/scary?
13 years ago. A gap off a roof, into a huge bank.
14. When was the last time you scared yourself on your bike?
It’s been a while.
15. What was the last bike part you bought?
A Tech 77 lever.
16. What is the greatest BMX product in the last ten years?
Marvin seat guts, of course!
17. If you could choose two riders to go riding with daily, who would they be?
Bennett and Stricker.
18. How would you describe your riding?
Wild and loose, but in control most of the time.
19. What is your favourite type of riding?
Trails. Just flowing is a great feeling.
20. Describe an ideal day…
Go to work, come home or work at the off-road shop that Nate Hanson owns. Ride my bike when time permits. Then hang out with my sweet hot girlfriend Lauren.
