Brand New: What is, ‘One More Brew’? – Part 1

We just got in an advance copy of the new collaboration DVD, One More Brew. It’s a Seventies/Project5 project which includes sections of video from Matty Lambert, Ben Green, Rich Wilson, Charlie Jobling, Ollie Wainright, Dario Demarco and Kyle Harvey.

Each of these characters represents a difference scene around the British Isles and each one has their own filming style and group of riders to shoot with. Over the winter, each filmer/editor has been busy shooting their scene for this collaboration DVD. The whole idea is pretty underdog, with nearly all of the people involved doing this in their spare time.

To get a bit more of an insight, we asked each of the filmer/editors some questions about the project…

Charlie Jobling

What is your filming/editing history?
I’ve been filming for about sixish years I think, mainly doing videos as a hobby. But for the past few years I’ve helped out seventies with random bits and pieces.

What is One More Brew?
It’s what you do before you do before you go out for a stunt.

What area did you cover?
A mix between Grantham, Burton-on-trent and Hastings. I was in the middle of my move to Hastings {while filming}

Which riders are in your edit?
There’s Harry Blain, Mark Lehair, Tom Sears, Ben Warren, Tom Forster, Jordan Forster, Niki Croft, Carl King and his brother Mike, Gez, Jack from Dub, Waffle, Bungay from Bexhill, Dan Lacey and Scott Ditchburn.

How long have you been working on it?
Pretty much from the beginning.

Any major hiccups?
Not really, I didn’t have much time to concentrate on it that much, that’s about the only hiccup I had.

Anything you’d change if you could?
More time please…

Who’s section are you most looking forward to seeing?

I hadn’t really heard of many of the filmers in the project, but I figured Matty’s would be the one to have a look at!

Ollie Wainwright

What is your filming/editing history?
I’ve always liked taking photos and filming stuff so I just took my camera to the Project 5; Lynched in Leicester Jam and was really into what those lads are about. So, I just went to a load of the jams in the summer and shot as much as i could so I could show people how sweet the UK BMX scene is. Editing wise, I just sat down with the Adobe production suite for a year and now do freelance motion graphics aswell as a degree in ‘Design for Moving Image’ at Ravensbourne [Uni]

What is One More Brew?
It’s basically a video showing what the UK scene gets up to in the winter.

What area did you cover?
London

Which riders are in your edit?
Mark Westlake, Lloyd Wright, Vince Mayne, Jamie Mckechnie, Andro Voll, Michael Bultin, Dangerous Ryan, Alex Kennedy, Phil Feeney, Bertie Buck, Joe Cornwell, Taliban Tom and a completely unaware Jason Phelan

How long have you been working on it?
I shot for about 2 months and got the main body of the edit done in about 3 hours lying in bed on a Sunday.

Any major hiccups?
Only the weather and banger motivation in the cold to be honest…

Anything you’d change if you could?
Just to meet more people, see what they’re saying and that.

Who’s section are you most looking forward to seeing?
Everyones…

Dario Demarco

What is your filming/editing history?
I’ve made a few local scene videos and recently focused on the web side of things.

What is One More Brew?
A great opportunity for riders and filmers to work toward something during the harsh British winter. It’s all too easy for most riders to go into hibernation during the winter but with OMB it gave us something to focus on and a great excuse to showcase some UK talent both riding and filming wise.

What area did you cover?
It was hard to get further afield than my hometown due to the unpredictability of the weather so most of the clips are from Glasgow and the surrounding areas with a few clips from Edinburgh peppered in.

Which riders are in your edit?
My brother Luca, Will McGibbon, Graeme Davidson, Marc Johnston, Wee Jamesy Chalmers, Kriss Kyle, Simon “Emo” Gibb, Parky, Paul Chapman and Myself.

How long have you been working on it?

I think it took me about a month and a half to get it done.

Any major hiccups?

Well I moved to America at the start of the year to study for a semester at a Law School in Columbus, Ohio so I had to submit my section before I left. This seriously cut my time short meaning I had about a month less than the rest of the filmers. Luckily I was already working on a video part that fell through so I had some clips to put towards the OMB part which gave me a bit of a head start.

Anything you’d change if you could?

I would have loved to have had more time to really work on my edit but as I said time constraints forced me to rush it a bit. I’m not too worried though. There’s always something I would change when I look back on my edits so I’ve quickly learned that if I obsess over every little thing I’ll drive myself mad.

Who’s section are you most looking forward to seeing?
I’m looking forward to watching all the sections because I couldn’t make it across the Atlantic for the premiere in Liverpool. However, I’m really excited to see Matty’s section as I’m sure there will be some serious bangers in there and also Ollie’s section because I’m sure his edit will be top notch!

Part 2 will include interviews with Ben Green, Rich Wilson, Joel Nicholls, Matty Lambert and Kyle Harvey and be online tomorrow… March 24th.
